Physical Therapy and Strength Coaching for Mountain Bikers

In person in Bellingham, WA or virtual, wherever you ride

For Riders Who Are Done With Pain Cycles

and Ready to Fix It for Good

Why Work With Me

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a mountain biker. I spend my free time on the trail, so I understand what your back actually goes through on a long climb, a technical descent, and the drive home after a big day out.

I don’t believe in just getting people “out of pain” for a few weeks. Your rehab plan is built around your riding goals, your injury history, and your body. No generic PDF handouts, no one-size-fits-all rehab templates, and no being told to just rest and come back in six weeks.

I bridge the gap between physical therapy and performance training, because getting out of pain is only half the job. The other half is building a body strong enough to stay on the trail, ride harder, and stop the cycle of flare-ups for good.

The result is a body that handles long days in the saddle, back-to-back ride weekends, and big technical terrain without falling apart. You’ll ride with more confidence, recover faster, and actually understand what your body needs to stay healthy on the bike.

What I Help Riders With

  • Low back pain and SI joint pain from mountain biking

  • Hip and knee pain on climbs and long rides

  • Shoulder, upper back, and neck pain

  • Recovering from crashes and returning to riding after injury

  • Recurring injuries that keep coming back

Most of these don’t start where they hurt. I look at the whole chain, above and below the pain, to find what’s actually driving it.

In-Person or Virtual Rehab Coaching

In-person rehab coaching in Bellingham, WA

Local riders start with an in-person assessment in Bellingham, where we will find out what’s actually driving your pain. From there, we will work together in person or switch to virtual sessions, whichever fits your schedule and riding season best.

Virtual rehab coaching

Not local? Virtual rehab coaching is a great fit for persistent or recurring pain, ongoing aches that flare up with riding, and returning to the trail after an injury has settled. Through video assessments, I see how you move, find the weak links, and coach your form in real time.

If you’ve just crashed or have a new injury with significant swelling, bruising, numbness, or trouble bearing weight, please see a provider in person first. Once you’re cleared, I’d love to help you rebuild.

Included with every rehab coaching plan

Whether you train in person or virtually, every client gets:

  • App access with your custom program and video demos of every exercise

  • Daily exercises built around your injury, goals, and riding schedule

  • A rehab-to-strength approach that takes you from pain relief all the way to riding stronger than before

  • Direct messaging by text or in the app, so you’re never stuck waiting until your next session

  • Video form feedback. Send me clips of your exercises and I’ll make sure you’re moving well.

Rehab Coaching FAQs

Is virtual physical therapy effective for mountain bike injuries?

For persistent pain, recurring flare-ups, and return-to-riding rehab, yes. Those are driven by exercise and coaching, and video assessments let me evaluate how you move in detail. If you have a new injury with severe pain, like a recent crash with major swelling or possible structural damage, it’s best to get evaluated in person first.

Where are you located?

I’m based in Bellingham, WA, and offer in-person assessments at your home for local riders. Virtual rehab coaching is available in most states.

Do you take insurance?

Rehab coaching is private pay, so your plan is built around your goals, not insurance limits on visits or covered treatments. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. I can also provide a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What equipment do I need?

Programs can be built for a full gym or for home with resistance bands. We will work with the equipment you have available.

How is rehab-to-strength coaching different from traditional physical therapy?

Rehab-to-strength coaching is an all-around approach. First we solve your injury and past injuries or trouble areas, then we build full-body strength for riding. Traditional PT often stops once the pain is gone. This keeps going until you’re stronger on the bike than before you got hurt.

Can I ask questions between sessions?

Yes. During business hours, you can reach me by text or in-app message and send exercise videos for form feedback. Your questions get answered the same day, so you can adjust in real time and progress faster. If I don’t hear from you, I’ll check in, so you’re never left on your own between sessions. That ongoing support is what sets this apart from traditional PT.
